LEARN MORE ABOUT SEVERETH (THE CITY) HERE!

WHAT IS SEVERETHIAN TECHNOLOGY?

Severethian Technology comes in many forms— oftentimes it comes in the form of metal contraptions with immense power and applicability. In the beginning, this technology was used to create weapons. Guns, beam swords, mechanical appendages, and a wide range of unimaginable terrors. Soon, however, it fell into the hands of the common people and scientists. Scientists used this technology to develop domestic appliances and better modes of transportation. There were now motorbikes, cars, and even public transport. Strange bulbs were made to light homes— boxes that kept food cold— the applications were endless.

This technology is powered by mythical creature parts— Dragon and Griffin parts, to be exact. Griffin parts are preferred as they offer more power and stability, however they are often harder to come by. Because of this, most Severethian technology is powered by Dragon Parts.

An individual well versed in Alchemy required in order to make use of the aether stored in the parts of Mythicals. They are often synthesized into small balls or pellets (sometimes called power cores), that can be inserted into a power socket in a device. The device, through some kind of unknown mechanism, is then able to convert the magic into usable energy. One single part of a mythical creature can be used to synthesize many power cores, however it will come with the tradeoff of less power and durability. Cores are often synthesised with varying levels of power in order to suit different needs. Cores do eventually run out of energy and need to be replaced, but even low-powered cores can last for a long time.

Larger devices such as cars or trains require stronger power cores to function.

Scientists actually do not fully understand the logic behind the functionality of Severethian technology, and thus work on a trial-and-error basis, working backwards from the original plans invented by Vertigo. Many scientists have tried to seek out this so-called ‘Vertigo’ in order to question them about their process, however, none have been successful in finding them. Little is understood about how this elusive earthling could have invented technology that stumps even the greatest minds in modern science.

EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES

These are technologies that are currently achievable, but are still in their early phases and are not widely used or known of. Feel free to have your character be an inventor in any of these fields!

  • Portable long-distance communication devices. (stationary communication devices exist and are picking up in popularity).
  • Film / TV.
  • Blimps / Air travel.

UNDISCOVERED TECHNOLOGIES

These technologies are currently undiscovered in the world of Rozetta.

  • Computers.
  • Complex manufacturing facilities.
  • GPS.
  • Robots (functional prosthetics exist, however!).
  • Commercial sized airplanes (small experimental planes exist).

OTHER NOTES

  • Power Cores are basically like magical batteries. Think of them as batteries.
  • The complexity/development of Severethian Technology does not mirror the progression of real-world technology! Some technologies will take longer to invent, others may come sooner. This is due to its magical properties, meaning some sci-fi like tech that doesn’t exist in the real world (e.g. laser swords) come first, but other things like robots and air travel still take longer to perfect. Fantastical weapons and appendages are much more advanced compared to real-world tech, even if they are a bit more archaic in construction.
  • Not sure if a technology could exist? You’re always free to ask!
